Sattriya Dance

It is one of the eight classical dances of India, during Neo- Vaishnavite Movement, A Vashnavaite Saint Sri Manta Sankaradeva. It evolved in the early 16th century. The great saint composed his dance drama and songs, contributing to this beautiful dance’s evolution. This dance possesses several Hastas (Hand gestures)choreographic patterns, distinctive costumes, and various masks. Sattriya dance has all the classical elements, Nritta, Nritya, and Natya. The main instrument that is played inSattriya dance is Khol. Sattrya dance has both masculine (Tandav) and feminine (Laasya) aspects. Sattriya dance consists of Nadhubhangi, Jhumura, Chali, and Bahar Nritya.
